Nothing in this world can take the place of PERSISTENCE. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
– Calvin Coolidge
I am back…. moving forward like an inchworm, one “scunch” at a time. Suffice it to say though, I really have not had any huge breakthroughs in reaching through the “glass ceiling” but there has not really been a moment when I did not believe in what I was doing. Oh I may get frustrated, or think about letting the negative self talk in but I shush it very quickly.
I have met some damn nice people all long the way…and I have learned something from all of them. All of them satisfied this driving curiosity I have about life and people. If you have not read Brian Grazer’s: A Curious Mind. I highly suggest you do. Would love to have a conversation with that man….so I added him to my Bucket List (here). I did get the book you had mentioned somewhere and am in the process of reading it now. The Phantom Tollbooth. I have been reading it off my Kindle app on my new phone and I know I have startled the hell out of people as I laugh out loud reading it.I am pretty sure it will be one to keep around and reread as time goes on. I bet it offers something new every time you read it.
So where was I ….yes the amount of people I have approached and been turned aside, off or just ignored. I am sure there are some I missed and I know there are more to come…..it will happen as it is all supposed to. So let’s talk about the tour. The cities and theatres you have chosen. I bet that is going to be a super interesting chapter in the book. Added to the chapters about why you chose the songs you did. Yes, I saw the Extra videos, but I suspect like most of the videos I have seen that they are well crafted shorts and there are a lot of people who are your fans…or just fascinated, that would like to hear more.Like the memories they do bring. I know they are childhood favorites of mine. When I listen to them, only the good things come to mind…it is funny to me what brings me to a biography, coffee art book are the ones where I read why the author chose that figure and how they influenced their life and that makes me curious…and so I read them and learn something new OR at least can have a new perspective on things in life….
So maybe now is the best time to really discuss all of that. Who influenced me, well you can “blame” Oprah first …and I say that with a smile. Years of her classes on OWN. Master Classes that I kept a notebook and notes in, journaled my discoveries about me. Things that I needed to reread…and then reread again. This journey to self has been over 10 years in the making and I find that now I am flying. When I look back at then…to now?? I think WOW, I am so different. Then there is Eckhart Tolle, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Maya Angelou and so many more. I follow none and all. I take what I need and apply it to my life.
All of this which has brought back to life, the fierceness, the passion, the thirst for new. New Knowledge, New Experiences and I am of the mind that we can all learn so much from each other. To me, for me there is no barrier, I do not see color or gender. I do not see class or barriers incomes. I just see people, I see spirits, lights, stories to hear and share and learn
*PS-Dear Reader- The only favor I ask is that you follow the story, Share if you are so inclined. Know that I am following dreams as you do.
